<< BackRecalling a Historic Initiation Date
Throughout the years, many brothers have made and shared enough memorable moments to last dozens of lifetimes. For Tom Nixon '41, one of his favorite moments occurred shortly before his initiation.
Tom writes: "My most memorable moment was following my pledging in spring of my freshman year, initiation took place later that year. The KA house, a modest two story brick bungalow, was located directly across from what was then the Naval Armory on the north-east corner of the stadium block. As I waited for my initiation ritual to commence on this memorable occasion, I was alone in a bedroom on the second floor as the last of our pledge group of thirteen (as I recall). I happened to turn on the radio and heard the initial reports of the attack on Pearl Harbor. While my memory on the details of my initiation which followed is unclear, I certainly recall better than most--even 65 years later-- the date of my initiation."
